Issues in Mental Health Series

Olathe Public Schools is excited to announce the quarterly event titled “Issues in Mental Health: A Family Speaker and Support Series.”  These events aim to educate and support the parents and families of our students and linking them to appropriate community resources.  A committee of professionals was formed to examine the needs of the student body and their families relating to mental health and wellness.  Each event will feature a professional speaker who will share information about the topics listed below.

  • 10/11/16:  Navigating the Mental Health System
  • 12/13/16:  Depression
  • 3/21/17:    Anxiety
  • 5/16/17:    Coping/Stress Reduction/Self Care/Health Life Balance

Liz George, LSCSW and Angela Guzman, MA from Johnson County Mental Health/Family Focus will present on the topic of Self Care: Coping, Stress Reduction and a Healthy Life Balance.  This event will be held on Tuesday, May 16th at the Technology Support Center beginning at 7pm.

Diane McLean, MEd, PCC presented on the topic of Anxiety at the March 21st event at 7pm.  She shared her expertise on the signs/symptoms and effective management strategies.
